SKILLSETS -- THE 2019 NHL DRAFT PLAYERS MOST LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE TO THE LA KINGS
IN THE 2019 NHL DRAFT, BY THE TIME THE LA KINGS PICK AT #5, JACK HUGHES AND KAAPO KAKKO
WILL BE GONE.
HERE ARE THE GUYS NEXT IN LINE.
THESE ARE THEIR SKILLSET RATINGS FROM A
FAN-SCOUTING CHANNEL ON YOUTUBE CALLED
"NHL DRAFT CENTRAL".
THE RATINGS ARE SCREENSHOTS FROM THAT CHANNEL.
THE KINGS WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY END UP WITH 1 OF THESE PLAYERS:
No, the Kings won't get Jack Hughes. But I left his rating on here for comparison. Note the "6" for Hughe's skating.
KIRBY DACH
VASILI PODKOLZIN
DYLAN COZENS
BOWEN BYRAM
And, just for fun (we have no hope of getting him), here's
KAAPO KAKKO
.
FINAL NOTES/EXCEPTIONS:
One exception is Kirby Dach's skating, rated 4 here.
From what I've read and seen online, a "3" would probably
be more appropriate. Also, Dach's "4" in shooting may be closer
to "3", in my opinion.
Another possible exception is Bowen Byram's physicality rating. Byram has been described as being able to deliver very hard hits
on players coming up through open ice.
Perhaps his 3 should be a "4"?
Even though he won't be available to the Kings, Kaapo Kakko's Hockey IQ is rated a notch low, in my opinion, from the readings and testimony I've heard. I believe it should be moved up
from "4" to "5".
Regardless, let's all hope the Kings choose the best player available.
HAPPY DRAFT,
FELLOW KINGS FANS!!!!
